Earth Tectonics A Microworld aiming to lead pupils to the discovery of the relationships among earthquakes, volcanoes and plate tectonic theory and also provide a general purpose tool for the study of earthquakes and volcanoes. By using the Time-machine pupils may view the global seismic and volcanic activity, as it was recored from historical times until today, in the chosen time frames. Earthquake data are compiled from a USGS data set of historical earthquakes from 2000 BC until today. Volcano data are compiled from the Global Volcanism Program data set of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Volcano World web site.
